Well, into the office I must go. Happy Wednesday to u....
What's up crew...?
The good folks at P5 Audio periodically host what are known as Flash Beat Mix Contests, complete with prizes. As I follow them on Twitter, I always catch their tweets about them, and check out their free samples for download. This particular sample kit has some pretty funky stems in it, so, being the budding remixer that I am, I decided to enter the contest. Here's a bit from the website:
3- Day Beat Competition : West Coast G Funk Beat!
The challenge: Using the FREE Loops from West Coast G Funk Loop Sets we have provided for you in the link at the bottom of this page, make a Hot Beat. You can use ANY OTHER SOUNDS in your library you wish, BUT, the track must FEATURE some part of the West Coast G Funk as one of the main elements. You can chop these loops, loop them out, pitch them, process them, combine them, use one or use them all, BUT YOUR TRACK MUST FEATURE SOME PART OF THE LOOPS PROVIDED. The winning beat can be Hip Hop, RnB, Electro, Rock, whatever.
So, I got to work this evening and pretty much finished the track. Simple mix, nothing extraordinary done with the loops provided - no chopping, etc. In another post, I'll explain (for those so keenly interested...LOL) how I went about doing this remix. I've attached the original arrangement, mine will be posted before midnight, tonight.
For the entire skinny on the contest, check it out here.
Peace,
Fresh!
"You Love Me"...created from a groove we were messing around with one late night.
Enjoy
Just doing a little track admin this morning...nothin's special. Keepin' the project moving.
Hey...
If I had to choose between commercial radio and internet radio today...well...U probably know what my choice would be. A quick shout to @somafm and The @SundaySndtrack.
Lately I've been publishing posts on my perspective on sampling and its role in music composition. Sampling is still mostly connected with hip-hop, but its evolution has made it far reaching in many other genres, especially with the advent of sample packs and digital audio workstation software apps that include sample based instruments. Interestingly enough, posting these blogs has drawn me closer to my *favorite* era of hip-hop music, the mid-80s into the 90's...the era of the MPC. Instrumental jazzy hip hop....MPC rules.
